Course Agenda

Course Objectives
This course has been designed to achieve the following objectives:

  • Upgrade the technical knowledge and skills of professionals who want to develop and establish a career in facilities management;
  • Update facilities/property managers and building administrators on new service innovations introduced in various types of establishments;
  • Assist employers, professional associations and asset managers in raising the profile of facilities managers and building administrators and develop new qualifications at the entry level; and
  • Assist executive management of organizations in both public and private sector in strategic management of property assets by enhancing the productivity and performance of their facilities managers.

Course Description
This is a 3-day course designed for managers and supervisors working in facilities services roles across a wide range of industries. It provides them the opportunity to explore and discuss new concepts and development perspectives in facilities management (FM). The course has been developed to highlight a combination of engineering solutions and management technologies applicable to managing office buildings, shopping centers, hotels, leisure and recreation facilities, hospitals, educational establishments and production plants, particularly in the field of facilities management.

Facilities management is a vital management function of business and industry firms and organizations. It is responsible for the management of services and processes that support the core business of the organization. In many countries, FM is considered as an industry of growth and the government creates a high apprenticeships fund to support the requirements of various industry employers. In the Philippines, this course will be relevant to the intensive campaign of the government for the continuing growth of SMEs, tourism industry services and facilities, power plants and energy management services, world-class educational institutions and hospitals, call centers and ICT infrastructure, LGU property and building management, and the Filipinos’ participation in ASEAN open market for professional services.

Duties and responsibilities vary according to the nature and size of the organization. This course will help facilities managers to focus on the best business practices in improving efficiency by reducing costs in operations while at the same time increasing productivity.

This specially designed FM course will consist of three modules, including:

  • Introduction to Facilities Management: Roles and functions of facilities manager; Various facilities services in different industries; Spatial planning and space management; and ICT Infrastructure and Security;
  • Health, Safety and Risks in the FM Industry: Environmental management; Health and safety, Risk management, and Building maintenance management;
  • Other Plus Factors in FM: Energy management and energy efficiency; Marketing of facilities and services; Emergency Planning for Service Facilities
